Avès duo

Piano: Elena Soussi / Accordion: Ambre Vuillermoz

Both born in southern France, and friends since childhood, pianist Elena Soussi and acordionist Ambre Vuillermoz have become two accomplished musicians, after obtaining a Master degree of Interpretation with highest distinctions, in prestigious European schools (Conservatoire national supérieur de musique CNSM in Paris, Haute école de musique de Genève).

Elena Soussi and Ambre Vuillermoz have been lucky enough to be supported by different foundations during their respective studies (Deutschland Stipendium, Bourse d'étude du canton de Berne, Fondation banque populaire...), and to be distinguished as laureates or finalists amongst several national and international music competitions (Boulogne-Billancourt international new music competition, Music competition of French Zonta clubs, DAAD competition in Germany, International accordion competition in Arrasate…).

Guided by their strong friendship and by the desire to build a common project, Elena and Ambre decided to create, in 2015, the Avès Duo.

Then, began a constructive and stimulating musical collaboration, rich in musical explorations, be it with the repertoire itself (with many personal transcriptions), or with the possibilities of both instruments. Since then, the Duo has built an eclectic and rich repertoire, from Baroque music (Bach, Soler...) to contemporary music, without forgetting, of course, various and unexpected styles, such as jazz or tango.

This wide repertoire helped the Duo developing many connections between styles and audiences, reinforced by an important reflection on the combination of the different artistic fields (painting, dancing) with the music itself.

Furthermore, creation has always been a great interest for the Duo. It actually led them to collaborating with experimented, but also young and talented composers, which has been another way to widen their formation's repertoire.

Since 2017, the Duo is supported by the Cultural Foundation of the Neuchâtel Cantonal Bank (BCN), but also by the Nicati-Deluze Foundation, both in Switzerland.

Very recently, they have had the honour of playing on television, through the show "Stars von Morgen" (Arte TV), where their performance was extremely well received.
